As a result of the investigation completed in mid-September by the Guardia Civil of Almeria, three arrests have been made and eight crimes of theft of lorry batteries committed in different industrial

estates in the region of Valle del Almanzora have been cleared up.
The detainees are two men aged 40 and 48 and a woman aged 49, belonging to the same family who live in the towns of Macael and Baza.

This recent action is the result of the ongoing work carried out by the Guardia Civil in the province for the prevention and investigation of crimes against property.
The Guardia Civil agents, following various reports of thefts of this type of material, worked on a line of investigation given that the modus operandi detected consisted of choosing industrial areas in the aforementioned region, especially in one of the industrial estates in the municipality of Albox to steal the batteries from lorries.
After examining the evidence collected during the visual inspections of the lorries, as well as during discreet surveillance in the area and using technological means, the agents were able to identify two vehicles that were always used by the perpetrators in each of the thefts.
The Guardia Civil located the driver of one of the vehicles who, during the investigation, admitted to being one of the perpetrators of the thefts along with two other family members. The detainees stole the batteries in municipalities in the province of Almería and subsequently sold them in recycling centres in different towns in the province of Granada.
After the investigations and enquiries, the Guardia Civil of the Albox post, has clarified eight crimes of theft of truck batteries, committed in several industrial estates in the region of Valle del Almanzora, with an approximate market value of 4,800 euros.
The detainees along with the proceedings have been placed at the disposal of the Court of Huércal Overa.
The Guardia Civil de la Commandancia of Almería wants to insist on the need for victims to report this type of crime, providing as much information as possible (serial numbers, photographs and invoices) of the stolen material.
