Dolores Martínez Utrera, the Delegate for Development, Territorial Planning and Housing, and the Mayor of Zurgena, Domingo Trabalón, signed a reciprocal transfer of two sections of road this Thursday morning to improve public road management in the town. This is a section of the A-1101 road which is owned by the Junta de Andalucía, and will become the property of the Zurgena Town Council, and the Avenida de Murcia, which is owned by the town council and will now be taken over by the regional administration.
The section of the road from Sorbas to Zurgena (A-1101) is located between kilometre point 37+114 (where the actual transfer begins at the intersection with Avenida de Murcia, Avenida de la Paz and Calle Granada) and 37+676 (where the actual transfer ends at the intersection with Avenida de Murcia and Avenida de Andalucía), a crossing as it passes through the town of La Alfoquía in the municipality of Zurgena.
On the other hand, the section of Avenida de Murcia is defined, from its beginning (intersection with the A-1101 road, Avenida de la Paz and Calle Granada) to its end (intersection with the A-1101 road and Avenida de Andalucía), as belonging to the urban network of streets in the centre of La Alfoquía in the municipality of Zurgena.

Once these acts are approved, the cession becomes effective. The regional government is handing over a road of some 480 metres in length and the Consistory is doing the same with the 200-metre-long road. The Territorial Delegation of Public Works has explained that «when the road is received, the road surface will be upgraded and new signage will be installed».
The regional development delegate explained that «this action will serve to improve the road situation in the area». «It is an exchange that is carried out thanks to the good harmony between the two administrations, and which shows that the important thing is to solve the problems of the residents of the municipalities, in this case to improve road safety in the area, facilitating access to the town, to give continuity to the road owned by the regional government,» she stressed.
For his part, the mayor of the town of Zurgen, Domingo Trabalón, thanked the Junta de Andalucía for being sensitive to the requests made, and for always advocating for the good of the town councils, which are the administrations closest to the citizens».
