On Sunday, August 4, during the celebration of the XXXVI Anniversary of the Pontifical Coronation of Our Lady of the Forsaken of Buen Retiro del Saliente, the 2024 Patronage Medals will be awarded. This is the highest distinction that, since 2019, the Shrine has awarded to the people who have most distinguished themselves in promoting devotion to the Little One and in collaborating with the Shrine.
This year, twelve of these medals will be awarded. The winners are:
1. Mrs. Alicia Pastor Oller, for her professionalism and commitment to the rehabilitation work of the Diocesan Sanctuary of Saliente.
2. Mrs. Aurelia Carrillo Carrillo, for her generosity to the Casa de la “Pequeñica” by donating the 18th century recipe book for the renovated historic kitchen of the Sanctuary
3. Mrs. Ángela Navarro Sánchez, for spreading the devotion to Our Lady of the Forsaken of Buen Retiro del Saliente Coronada in Mojácar and her admirable exhibition “The Lord walks among brushes” in December 2022.
4. Don Manuel Pleguezuelo Alonso, for his brilliant III Exaltation of the Pilgrimage of the Saliente last year.
5. Don José Juan Simón, for his magnificent participation in the Pilgrimage of Our Lady of the Rosary.
6. Mrs. María Jesús Segovia Molina, for h
er involvement in the issuance of the ONCE coupon on August 30.
7. Rev. Don Francisco Jerónimo Ruiz Gea, for his Christian generosity towards the Sanctuary and his profound devotion to the Little One.
8. Doña Carmen del Águila Pérez, for her Christian generosity towards the Sanctuary and her great collaboration in the restoration of the Historic Kitchen.
9. Mrs. Mari Carmen Martínez Ruiz, for her Christian generosity towards the House of Our Mother of Saliente, her constant collaboration – particularly in the adaptation of the Historic Kitchen – and the donation of the monumental Nativity scene last December.
10. Don Francisco Martínez Botella, for his personal involvement in the re-foundation and leadership of the Cuadrilla de Ánimas del Saliente.
11. Don Claudio Hugo Antonio Romano, for his magnificent participation in the Pilgrimage of the Virgin of the Rosary.
12. Mrs. Nuria Barrera Bellido, for the magnificent Poster of the Pilgrimage of Ntra. Sra. del Saliente 2024, in addition to the nice detail of traveling from Seville to the Sanctuary to explain her work.
During the evening, which will be held from 8:00 p.m. between the arcades of the Cloister of the Sanctuary, the Poster of this year’s Pilgrimage will be presented, a work by the prestigious Carmonense artist Mrs. Nuria Barrera Bellido and issue III of the Official Bulletin of the Diocesan Sanctuary of Saliente. Concluding with the Solemn Salve to the Little One and a cocktail in honor of the award winners.
