Agents of the Civil Guard from the Vera Traffic Detachment of the Civil Guard have proceeded to investigate a driver, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against road safety, for driving a car exceeding the legally established speed limits, travelling at 166 km/h when the road was generically limited to a speed of 60 km/h. The events took place in the municipality of Serón.
The driver could face a prison sentence of 3 to 6 months or a fine of six to twelve months or community service of thirty-one to ninety days, and, in any case, deprivation of the right to drive motor vehicles for a period of 1 to 4 years.
The proceedings will be delivered to the corresponding Courts of the Purchena judicial district.

Speeding is one of the main risk factors on the road, exerting a very negative influence on the ability to drive and generating high-risk situations, which can lead to serious administrative and criminal liability. For this reason, the Civil Guard is committed to monitoring compliance with speed limits during the services it provides, within the action plan for the prevention of accidents and specific campaigns to reduce motorcycle accidents, established by the General Directorate of Traffic.
