The marble climb will travel the roads of Macael this weekend

The Provincial Council of Almería has presented the new edition of the Macael Marble Hill Climb, which will be held on October 25, 26 and 27, 2024 in the town of Macael, Almería. This is the twelfth scoring event of the 2024 Andalusian Mountain Championship season.

The Vice President and Deputy for Sports, José Antonio García; the Mayor of Macael, Raúl Martínez, as well as the President of the Escudería del Mármol, Ana Belén Tapia and the delegate in Almería of the Andalusian Federation of Motorsports, Martín Pastor, have given more details of this competition that also has a drift exhibition with which the most impressive skids will be sought.

José Antonio García has highlighted several aspects of this Marble Hill Climb, such as the fact that “it is the sporting event with the highest number of spectators. More than 25,000 people will meet on the roads of Macael this weekend. No other sporting event in the province attracts as much expectation as this hill climb.”

“Participation is also key in this event, as registrations are already closed because they were sold out two weeks before the sporting event is held. In addition, it is an event that encourages inland tourism, as it will fill the accommodation in the area. From the Provincial Council of Almería we are committed to promoting this type of event to highlight and reaffirm that the province of Almería is the best place to practice sport throughout the year,” added the Vice President and Deputy for Sports.

The mayor of Macael stressed that “thanks to this event, fans will be able to enjoy the best motors this weekend. This is an event that brings together many fans to see the 150 teams that have entered.”

“There are no other races with as many cars entered as this one. I would like to invite all fans to come to Macael to enjoy this great race that has a coefficient of 5 and counts towards the Andalusian championship,” said Raúl Martínez.

The president of the Escudería del Mármol has highlighted that “for six consecutive years this race has been one of the best mountain climbs. This year the section will remain closed from Friday afternoon because the safety of the public is a fundamental aspect.”

“We ask all fans to follow the instructions of the organization at all times, as a series of safe zones and other prohibited zones will be established,” Tapia said.

Finally, the provincial delegate of the Andalusian Federation of Motorsports has expressed his pleasure in presenting this edition because “it is a race from my land and it is where I started as a driver, back in 1989, and it is a real pleasure. This is one of the editions with the most teams and there are some drivers who are playing for the mountain championship.”

It is the most prestigious motor racing event on the Andalusian mountain calendar and is possibly among the three best events on the national calendar, for which it counts. In addition, the fact that this event features the best drivers on the national mountain grid, circumstances that make this event a must for sportsmen and women and fans of this type of motor racing. It has obtained, on several occasions, the award given by the Andalusian Motor Racing Federation for the Best event on the Andalusian mountain racing calendar.
