In Cantoria everything is ready to celebrate this Sunday, 29 January, the IV Trail La Pólvora organised by the Town Council of Cantoria. No less than half a thousand people will take part in a sporting event which includes three modalities – a long race of 27 kilometres, a short race of 13 kilometres and a 14 kilometre walking route -, with the aim of fulfilling its inclusive and solidarity purpose. «We are very happy with this activity, which in just three editions has managed to get into the calendar of runners and become a must for many of them who, despite living in Madrid, Seville, Granada, Murcia or Malaga, return to our town to participate in this fourth year. We know that we have designed very attractive routes not only for the scenery that runners will be able to contemplate but also for the difficulty of it, especially for those who run the long race,» explained the mayoress Puri Sánchez.
The event will start today at 19:00 hours in the Saavedra Theatre where the 60th anniversary of the Andalusian Mountain Federation will be celebrated with a conference given by its president Julio Perea and the CxM delegate from Almeria Emilio Martinez. Then the Technical Director of the race, Juan Antonio Blanca ‘Anfi’ will explain the sections and highlights of the route, as well as general aspects of it and also attend to any doubts or questions about the event.
On Sunday, from 8 a.m. onwards, the bibs will be handed out to participants in the Plaza de Cantoria and at 9 a.m. the hiking group will set off. One hour later, the runners in the two races organised by the organisers will set off.

The finish line is scheduled to close at 2 p.m., followed by the prize-giving ceremony, which includes financial prizes for first, second and third place finishers. The activity will conclude with a plate of migas in the Polideportivo with live music by a DJ.
«For us it is very important that this sporting event, in addition to its competitive nature, also fulfils the purpose of being an inclusive event, this year a yolet chair will participate, and a solidarity event. On this occasion we are going to donate the proceeds to Nuevo Rumbo, thanks to a neighbouring nurse who works with this organisation and has shown us the great work that this NGO does in Almeria in the field of addictions, both helping people who suffer from these dependencies and the families they accompany throughout the detoxification and reintegration process. And as if all this were not enough, this trail is also a great opportunity to promote Cantoria. Rural tourism, the possibilities that our municipality offers to enjoy, to go on routes through the countryside and to finish the day in the barbecue areas that we have set up», highlights the mayor.
This IV Trail de La Pólvora is sponsored by Cosentino and Veolia and the event can be followed on Facebook and the website trailcantoria.es.
