In a recent action, the Guardia Civil has successfully clarified the theft of 1,500 euros and 60 national lottery tickets valued at 498 euros and managed to identify and arrest the perpetrator as the author of a crime of theft in the municipality of Maria.
This action is part of the incessant investigative work carried out by the Guardia Civil of Almeria in relation to the investigation and clarification of all acts committed against property in the province.
The Guardia Civil of Almeria has knowledge of the facts as a result of the complaint presented in official dependencies of the Guardia Civil, by the manager of a hotel establishment in the municipality of Maria in which he informs the agents that, in mid-February of this year, they have stolen from the business the amount of 1,500 euros and 60 national lottery tickets, valued at 498 euros.

In the same way, he informs the agents in charge of the investigation of the numbers stolen and clarifies that they correspond to the next two ordinary draws and a third extraordinary draw on the occasion of St. Valentine’s Day.
The agents in charge of the investigation carried out a search operation and, after carrying out numerous investigations and interviews in neighbouring towns, found that a man, a local resident, had been selling tenths of the stolen number, corresponding to the recently held special draw on Valentine’s Day.
The Guardia Civil officers, in view of the proximity of the other two ordinary draws to which the rest of the stolen tickets belong and the harm that would be caused to the local residents if they continued to be sold, redoubled their efforts and carried out an impeccable and arduous investigation which led to the full identification of the perpetrator.
As a result of this investigation and only 48 hours after learning of the facts, the Guardia Civil de Almería located and arrested a man, a resident of the area, in the municipality of María, as the perpetrator of a theft offence and recovered part of the stolen tenths.
The proceedings, together with the detainee and the recovered tenths, were handed over to the Court of First Instance of Vélez Rubio.
