The Villa de Fines women’s futsal team lost their first game after the Christmas break against CD Multisport Los Palacios from Seville by 5-6, a match corresponding to matchday 11 of the Single Group of the Division of Honour.
The Fines side gave away the first half, which Francis Cano described at the end of the 40 minutes as «the worst first half we have played in all the years I have been in charge of the team».
So it was that within a minute and a half the Sevillians had already taken the lead through María. But even though they were playing poorly, the home side had their chances, albeit with poor finishing. In the 6th minute Karen hit the crossbar. In the eighth minute Maria Moreno, alone in front of goal, hit the post. In the 9th minute, Karen broke on a counter-attack and shot, the ball deflected off Nuria, the visiting goalkeeper, and hit the post again.

A minute later, Karen partially equalised. From the 1-1 score, the fineras did everything they should not do on the pitch. Every arrival of the Los Palacios players ended in a goal. Maria again gave the visitors the lead in the 12th minute. In the 14th, Yolanda made it 1-3. A minute later, in the 15th, Lucía Valle made it 1-4 and in the 18th Toñi scored to make it 1-5.
That’s how they went to the break. In those ten minutes in the dressing room the local coach’s harangue was directed at the players in search of self-respect after a first half to forget.
At the restart everything seemed to be the same, until Vero in the 6th minute, scored one of those goals that in football they call «psychological» that put the locals in the game, 2-5. From Twingo to Ferrari. In the 7th María Moreno scored to make it 3-5. Two moves later Karen took the bouncing ball and on the run she changed the post to Nuria. But the best of the Salvadoran player was yet to come: a free kick in favour of Villa de Fines 20 metres from the goal. Karen nailed it into the corner and tied the match.
From the equaliser, the locals wanted to play controlled football. When everyone in the Fernando Navarrete pavilion thought that with the momentum they had won the match, the light blue team put on the brakes. They paid for the effort, the fatigue and stopped pressing. When Karen was empty, without Nerea through injury and with Vero far from her best, the team felt it too much.
In an isolated move, in the 14th minute, Yolanda put the game to bed. 5-6 and the home side had no more gas left in the tank. And with that came the first home defeat for Villa de Fines in the whole championship. The Sevillians had cut three points off the lead and deserved the win just by the order they showed throughout the match.
