The Albox City Council has managed to access the line of aid from the Department of Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality of the Andalusian Government, financed through European Next Generation funds for the construction of a new Residence for the Elderly. A project that involves an investment of more than 2.5 million euros and that will improve healthcare in the municipality and the Almanzora region.
The new senior centre will be built next to the ‘Gerial Albox’ Residence. A modern building with three floors and a basement, of 3,035 m2 and 32 rooms; eighteen doubles and 14 singles. A contemporary design with all kinds of amenities to serve the residents, which must be completed in June 2026 and will have an outdoor garden, rest areas, tree-lined paths and outdoor recreation areas.
The territorial delegate for Social Inclusion, Youth, Families and Equality, Francisco Bellido, visited the municipality this week to discuss the project for the new Senior Residence with the government team. The mayor, María del Mar Alfonso, took the opportunity to personally thank the Junta for its support to the city council. “The Junta de Andalucía, through this line of aid from European funds, will allow Albox to have a new Senior Residence. More places and better facilities to serve the residents of Albox and the entire Almanzora region. It is a great project that, without their help, would be impossible for us to carry out” explained Alfonso.

The delegate, for his part, congratulated Alfonso and his entire team for having managed to access this line of aid. “You have done a good job and have managed to access these European funds. Your town will have a new Residence in two years,” he assured during his visit to the town hall of Albox.
The new Senior Residence will improve care in the Almanzora region and the municipality of Albox, as the number of available places will be significantly increased. In addition, it will generate stable and quality employment.
