The President of the Provincial Council Javier Aureliano receives the Mayor of Oria Marcos Reche.

The Provincial Council of Almeria has approved new investments for the municipality of Oria. This has been specified by the deputy of Development, Antonio J. Rodriguez, who stressed that the Governing Board has already tendered the works of ‘Urban Park and Improvement of existing and Pavements’ which have a budget of 340,000 euros.

This project includes a series of actions to modify and improve the existing playgrounds in the municipality, the construction of a new leisure area in an expanding area of the town centre, and also the renovation of the pavement of the roadway of one of the main arteries of the municipality.

The provincial deputy for Development, Antonio J. Rodríguez, has highlighted the importance of provincial investments to improve municipal infrastructures: «The Provincial Plans allow for equal opportunities and these investments will provide more and better leisure spaces for the young and not so young people of Oria. Children’s paddle tennis and Pump Truck will be added to the facilities that will be improved with this work».

Specifically, this project includes five actions:

Action 1: Improvements in San Lucas Park. The action is carried out on an existing park and consists of the removal and replacement of the current children’s play elements, the installation of a «zip line» and the perimeter fencing of the play areas.

Action no. 2: Construction of a paddle tennis court for children. The aim is to replace a small existing children’s play area with the construction of a new paddle tennis court for children with reduced dimensions of 6×10 m, located next to the current paddle tennis court and the multi-sports court.

Action no. 3: Construction of a Pumptrack track. The action consists of the construction of a track with a closed asphalt circuit for the practice of skateboards, mountain bikes, bmx, etc.

Action no. 4: Construction of a Bio-healthy Park and Parkour. The construction of a new leisure area is planned, consisting, on the one hand, of an enclosure equipped with bio-healthy apparatus and, on the other hand, with an area for the practice of «parkour».

Action 5: Paving of Calle El Cañico. This action consists of the asphalt paving of this street in the town centre of Oria, which is currently in a poor state of repair.

Antonio J. Rodríguez explained that the Provincial Plans are an example of the Diputación’s institutional collaboration and reminded the council that in the four-year period 2024-27 it is going to break investment records and reward municipalities that are committed to water works.
